Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, part of the world-leading hospitality group Accor, has revealed its first property in Japan, Fairmont Tokyo, is set to open on July 1, 2025.
Taking reservations from now, Fairmont Tokyo promises a vibrant social scene, first-class dining and spa, and expansive high-rise city and bay views from the heart of the Shibaura district, a historic gathering place dating back more than four centuries to the Edo period, building upon Fairmont’s legacy of sitting at the social epicenter of timeless destinations worldwide.
Boasting a prime central location for exploring the wonders of Japan’s capital city, Fairmont Tokyo sits just 13 minutes from Haneda Airport and six minutes from both the Tokyo and Shinagawa Stations.
“We are delighted to unveil Fairmont’s debut property in Japan, nestled in the dynamic Shibaura district of Tokyo,” said Fairmont Tokyo General Manager, Karan Singh.
“This vibrant neighborhood pulses with energy, blending rich heritage and culture – a perfect match for the iconic Fairmont brand.

“The essence of Tokyo’s energy and legacy will be woven into every corner of this prestigious hotel, reflected in the unique spaces and unforgettable guest experiences we are creating.”
Visitors can delight in the tranquility of the Shibaura district with its many picturesque canals and lush gardens, experience iconic surrounding landmarks such as the majestic Zojoji Temple, or take advantage of the hotel’s seamless connectivity to Tokyo’s many attractions.
The property itself showcases breathtaking views of both the serene Tokyo Bay and the glittering Tokyo metropolis, including the famed Tokyo Tower, from its elevated position on floors 35 through 43 of the ‘BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA’ South Tower.
Fairmont Tokyo brings to life Fairmont’s dynamic spirit, connecting people and places, across time and cultures, to celebrate every moment.
The distinctive guest experience begins upon entering the 35th floor lobby, where visitors will be greeted by an abundance of lush greenery, seamlessly opening onto breathtaking outdoor terraces.

The west-facing terrace features a relaxation pool and sundeck where guests can unwind and indulge all day followed by sunset cocktails with stunning views of Tokyo Tower.
The east-facing terrace features an observation deck with seating area and fireplace overlooking the serene Tokyo Bay.
A collection of five restaurants and two bars will tempt visitors with bold flavors and artisanal cocktails.
Venues include a brasserie serving wood-fired pizzas, meats and seafood; a lobby lounge which melds French and Japanese café culture; and artfully designed spaces serving traditional Japanese styles of cuisine, such as sushi and teppanyaki, reimagined, blending an authentic approach with modern influences.
Guests can expect top-class amenities and wellness offerings at the highly anticipated Fairmont Spa and Health Club on the 35th floor.

Unique spa treatments inspired by the destination feature a blend of Fairmont’s signature oils and locally inspired products.
Bathed in natural light, the gym is open 24 hours, and offers state-of-the-art Technogym, a comprehensive free weights section, and two studios.
Guests can decompress in the 20-meter indoor infinity pool, lounge on the outdoor sundeck by the relaxation pool, or rejuvenate in the soothing saunas – all while enjoying uninterrupted views of the city skyline.
“We cannot wait to invite you for an unforgettable experience at Fairmont Tokyo,” said Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Chief Executive Officer, Omer Acar.
“There is truly so much to see and explore, starting with the incredible panoramic views from every windowed corner and terrace.

“I’d like to personally welcome you to take one of only six seats for a highly personalized experience at the Chef’s Sushi bar; to enjoy the tradition of afternoon tea, from a perch high above Tokyo Bay; or to discover the hotel’s speakeasy bar for a rare spirit and vinyl record listening experience.
“For a moment of respite from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, there is no better spot than the sundeck and relaxation pool,” he said.
Upon opening, Fairmont Tokyo will offer 217 rooms ranging from 52 – 278 square meters, situated from the 36th to 42ndfloors, each with breathtaking, unobstructed views through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows.
Warm-hued sen wood(Japanese lightweight hardwood), quartzite stone, and refined brass accents foster an ambiance of timeless elegance throughout guest rooms.
Elegantly crafted seating areas, inspired by the traditional Japanese ’Engawa’, create a transitory space between the interior and exterior. Guest bathrooms enhance a calming sense of serenity with the use of natural stone textures alongside Fairmont guest favorite, Le Labo bath products.

Thoughtfully designed by internationally acclaimed BAR Studio, the hotel’s interiors blend the city’s elegant heritage with modern design, showcasing rich textures and subtle cues referencing traditional Japanese techniques such as weaving and ‘Kintsugi’ in the property’s art and textiles.
The result beautifully encapsulates the vibrancy of the city, reflecting the serenity of Tokyo Bay, while paying homage to Japan’s rich artisanal heritage.
Fairmont Tokyo will offer an elevated experience with Fairmont’s exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel, Fairmont Gold.
From pre-arrival communications to tailored on- and off-property experiences, the dedicated Fairmont Gold concierge team delivers a heightened level of care and customization.
Special benefits include private check-in and lounge, distinctive style and design elements, and signature amenities such as complimentary breakfast, afternoon canapes and evening cocktails.

Personalized turn-down rituals complete the experience, making for an even more memorable stay.
The hotel boasts 29 suites, including The View Suite, Shibaura Suite and Presidential Suite, providing expansive spaces, bespoke furnishings and curated artworks alongside premiere amenities and access to the Fairmont Gold Lounge.
“There is much to be excited about with the opening of Fairmont Tokyo, our first property in Japan,” Acar said.
“In this urban retreat, we have had the opportunity to bring to life a celebratory experience that marries Tokyo’s heritage and culture with a sense of innovation and modernity. This is the perfect home for Fairmont.”
Given its prime location and sweeping vistas, Fairmont Tokyo is ideal for events from grand galas to international conferences and business meetings.
The Fairmont Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 1,200 guests making it one of the largest in Tokyo.
For more intimate events, The Sea on the 43rd floor features an open kitchen concept and 120-inch video screen, offering a unique setting for both meetings and special occasions.
Also located on the 43rd floor, The Sky, bathed in natural light with stunning panoramic views and a pre-function area that extends onto a terrace, is the perfect setting for guest nuptials. Additional meeting and event spaces can be flexed to meet any group’s needs.

Book a seat in ANA’s brilliant Business Class cabin
FLY ANA ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS
ANA (All Nippon Airways) flies to Tokyo from across the globe, including New York, London, Sydney and more global gateways. The author recommends flying in ANA’s Business Class cabin, which features lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.
Each seat has direct access to the aisle, a spacious side table with a personal light, a large table that’s ideal for working and dining, storage space under the ottoman for a large item, plus a universal PC power port, USB port and an 18-inch touch-panel LCD wide-screen monitor with a fantastic selection of movies, TV shows and games.
Flights offer ANA’s WiFi service, which will soon become free for all travellers in the Business Class cabin, plus an expansive duty-free offering including premium Japanese Whisky and luxury goods.

Where ANA’s Business Class stands out is food, drinks and hospitality on offer. On the dining front, there is a choice of a western or Japanese meal set and the quality and taste is so impressive, you’ll already feel like you are dining in a top Tokyo restaurant while you’re in the air.
If you go for the Japanese option, you can expect some Zensai (including sushi and morsels), Kobachi (a salmon salad and simmered icefish) and Shusai (simmered beef in wild vegetables), alongside steamed rice, Miso soup and Japanese pickles.
On the Western front, there will be a selection of small appetisers (like citrus marinated shrimps and scallops), followed by a main dish (beef fillet steak with Madiera sauce or steamed golden bream).

Both meal options come with a delightful dessert offering, including strawberry mousse, cheese and fruits.
On the wine front, expect a fantastic selection of top drops from across the globe, spanning France to Australia, New Zealand, Spain and Argentina, alongside a tasty selection of Sake and Shochu.
When it comes to an after-dinner tipple, incredibly, ANA offers the Hibiki Blender’s Choice from the House of Suntory of Japan (a $400 retail whisky) and it’s very, very hard to go past a dram of that.

The service on board ANA is well known as being called ‘five-star’ but that genuinely is what you can expect in the air and the hospitality is one of the many highlights onboard this impressive Business Class cabin that’s nothing short of five stars.
