Leisure Accommodation Collective (LA Co.) has introduced its latest Drifter property to market following a four-month renovation of The Village Cairns on Shields Street.
The 54-key Little Drifter Cairns launched on Thursday, introducing an expanded accommodation offering with 97 additional beds across dorm-style and private rooms.

New custom bunks include a personal light, charger ports, lockable storage and privacy curtains in shared rooms.
Described as an “elevated hostel” with Drifter’s signature design-led aesthetic, Little Drifter features upgraded communal areas to prioritise social connection including a spacious lounge and terrace, relaxed nooks and kitchen.

In its first month of trade, Little Drifter Cairns hit full occupancy and had a guest mix of 87.5% international travellers.
“Cairns has long been a rite of passage for international travellers coming to Australia, and Little Drifter Cairns celebrates that spirit with a new perspective,” said Drifter CEO Luke Moran.
“We’ve created something that offers all the fun and social energy of a hostel, but with the design detail, service and amenity today’s travellers expect.

“And with a stellar first few weeks of operation under our belts, we know that Little Drifter Cairns will become a mainstay and vibrant sanctuary for travellers from across the world looking to explore the great tropical north region of Queensland.”

Drifter now operates seven properties across Australia and New Zealand, including its flagship Drifter Christchurch hybrid hotel, and Little Drifter hostel venues (formerly known as The Village hostels) in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Surry Hills and Glebe, Canberra, Melbourne CBD and North Melbourne, all of which have undergone extensive refurbishment over the last 12 months.

Drifter Byron Bay, Melbourne, Wellington and Drifter Auckland will also set to launch soon.
