Vietnamese fast-casual dining brand Roll’d has officially entered the New Zealand market, opening its first store at Sylvia Park in Auckland.
The launch marks the brand’s first international franchise outside of Australia, with strong growth ambitions for the New Zealand market.
Founded in Melbourne in 2012 by Bao Hoang, Ray Esquieres and Tin Ly, Roll’d has grown to more than 125 stores. The brand is recognised for its fresh, authentic Vietnamese menu and efficient service model, offering signature dishes such as Phở, Bánh Mì, Gỏi and freshly made rice paper rolls – many rooted in family recipes passed down through generations.
The New Zealand rollout is being led by Mammoth Brands, co-CEOs Duane Dalton and Chris Henderson, who also operate Pita Pit, EGG’D, Bowl’d and Tuckr. The Sylvia Park store offers 40 dine-in seats alongside takeaway service, with a second location opening shortly at Westfield St Lukes and two Auckland Airport stores planned before the end of the year.
Health Conscious Kiwis
“This is a significant moment for Roll’d as we expand beyond Australia,” says founder Bao Hoang. “We’ve proven the concept’s strength in the Australian market, and New Zealand presents an exciting opportunity to deliver fresh, healthy and affordable food to busy, health-conscious Kiwis.”
Mammoth Brands Co-CEO Duane Dalton adds: “Despite the wider hospitality sector’s current challenges, we see strong potential in the fast-casual category. Roll’d fills a unique gap in the market and aligns perfectly with consumer demand for high-quality, authentic, and convenient dining options.”
Executive Chef Jerry Mai, well-known for her appearances on MasterChef Australia, oversees menu quality across markets. She will be in New Zealand from the week commencing 15 Septemberand available for media interviews and events.
Roll’d’s entry into New Zealand comes amid growing interest in international franchise opportunities and reflects the continued shift toward healthy, culturally diverse food options in the fast-casual space. Roll’d is offering a limited number of franchise locations to select individuals in New Zealand.
