Design-led hotel-hostel group Drifter is aiming to win new talent with a global job campaign in ode to the original ‘Best Job in World’ campaign.
Drifter’s ‘Next Best Job in the World’ aims to attract adventure enthusiasts from Europe, South-East Asia and North and South America to work at Drifter properties across Australia and New Zealand this summer.
The campaign will see the appointment of Drifter’s first-ever Drifter Dream Host – a paid role that will see one individual “travel, work, party and live” in various Drifter properties in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Cairns, Byron Bay, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland over three months.
The position includes hosting social and cultural events, creating destination-led content, and connecting with Drifter’s local community networks.
“This is both a Drifter marketing campaign and tourism driver,” said Joshua Hunt, Chief Marketing Officer of Drifter.
“It’s about showcasing the depth of experiences across Australia and New Zealand while embedding our brand in the stories and content shared by travellers themselves.
“The Next Best Job in the World is a catalyst for engaging global working holiday makers with our product and the destinations we operate in, and it’s also Drifter’s tongue-in-cheek take one of the most successful destination storytelling campaigns the travel industry has ever seen.
“From day one, Drifter has been about creating the best place in the world, not just for our guests, but for every traveller, partner, artist, and team member who walks through our door.
“The Drifter Dream Host role is our way of inviting someone to live that dream, to connect with our community, and to turn one summer into the adventure of a lifetime.”
Applications are open now to any country and residence eligible for a working visa in Australia and New Zealand (as well as Australian and New Zealand residents) with the winning candidate receiving a three-month work contract, return flights from anywhere in the world, accommodation for the period at Drifter, and their travel expenses paid. Applicants are required to upload their CV and a video that shows why they should be the Drifter Dream Host, with applications closing on 20 October 2025.
The campaign is being rolled out across international job sites and social media, with targeted content and paid OOH advertising in the key markets of Europe, South-East Asia, and the Americas.
