Kristy Phillips has been appointed by Hospitality New Zealand as the next Chief Executive of the association.
Troy Clarry, Vice Chair and Chair of the National Committee’s recruitment panel, said Phillips’ deep understanding of the industry and long connection with the organisation sets her in good stead for the Chief Executive role.
“I’m pleased Kristy will be transitioning into the operational side of Hospitality NZ, and can bring her wealth of hospitality experience to the role. Kristy has played an integral role around our board table, and has a clear understanding of what members need from the organisation and the opportunities ahead.
“Kristy brings a keen strategic mindset and a strong track record of organisational leadership. We look forward to supporting her to take the organisation forward and continue to build on the five-year strategy.”
Barker’s Connection
Phillips is currently leading Barker’s Foodstore & Eatery venues, looking after venues in both Geraldine and Auckland, and is Hospitality New Zealand’s National Chair. She has enjoyed a long career in hospitality, including owning and operating her own restaurants in Timaru for 14years.
She has been on the Hospitality New Zealand board since 2018, taking on roles including Vice President and Chair of the Finance Committee prior to being appointed National Chair, and was previously South Canterbury Branch President.
Kristy Phillips said: “I’m proud to take on this role, and to lead Hospitality New Zealand from the operational side of the table. I’m looking forward to representing members and supporting our team to champion hospitality across our relationships with government, industry partners and the public.”
Phillips will commence her role in November and be primarily based in Wellington.
The National Committee will select a new Chair, who will hold the role until the next AGM, as per the organisation’s constitution.
