New Zealand’s The Lindis Lodge has been awarded Two Michelin Keys in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide, the hotel equivalent of the Michelin Star for restaurants, recognising extraordinary places that turn every stay into a true experience.
This honour represents the highest level of Michelin recognition in New Zealand, marking a proud moment not only for The Lindis but for the country’s growing presence on the global stage of place- driven, design-led, modern luxury hospitality.
The MICHELIN Guide has presented its inaugural Global MICHELIN Keys Selection. Following the launch of MICHELIN Key distinctions in 15 top travel destinations last year, the guide’s inspectors have scoured the world and identified those offering the most exceptional experiences.
Parisian Ceremony

In total, no less than 2,457 hotels have received One (1,742), Two (572) or Three (143) MICHELIN Keys across the globe — all representing the crème de la crème of world hospitality and meeting The MICHELIN Guide’s highest standards of hospitality and quality.
Unveiled online and at an exclusive ceremony at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, in Paris (France) on October 8, all these hotels are bookable via The MICHELIN Guide’s website and mobile apps, with integrated concierge services and VIP perks for a seamless and memorable experience
What Two Michelin Keys Represents
Awarded to only a select few hotels worldwide, Two Keys signify “an exceptional stay — somewhere truly unique and exceptional in every way, where a memorable experience is always guaranteed. A hotel of character, personality and charm that’s run with obvious pride and considerable care. Eye-catching design or architecture, and a real sense of the locale make this an exceptional place to stay.”
Seven New Zealand Properties
With the 2025 MICHELIN Guide, this recognition expands to Oceania for the first time, and The Lindis is among seven New Zealand properties honoured with Two Michelin Keys; alongside Huka Lodge, Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, Blanket Bay, Rosewood Cape Kidnappers, Otahuna Lodge, and Wharekauhau Country Estate.
This collective achievement underscores how profoundly New Zealand’s landscapes, design philosophy, local sourcing, and people-led hospitality resonate on the world stage. It mirrors our ethos and confirms that modern luxury when rooted in place, can stand proudly among the world’s finest.
Guide Notes
As the MICHELIN Guide notes of The Lindis:“Set in the less-travelled Ahuriri Valley on the South Island of New Zealand, The Lindis is reminiscent of the best Patagonian hotels for the way it melts into the landscape, and for the way it demonstrates that unapologetically modern architecture and design are the perfect complement for their ageless natural surroundings. The suites are extraordinarily lavish, even the freestanding Pods — compact, efficient units set out of sight of the main lodge. Adventures abound — too many to list here — and the cuisine is first-rate, sourced from the local area, including the hotel’s own gardens.”
World Class Experiences
The Lindis Managing Director, William Hudson acknowledged the achievement, stating: “I’m immensely proud to share that The Lindis has been awarded Two MICHELIN Keys. A remarkable recognition of the world-class experiences our teams create every day.
“To be part of this first-ever selection for the region, and to stand alongside some of the most exceptional properties across Oceania, is a true honour. This recognition is something we are all incredibly proud of, a reflection of authentic New Zealand modern luxury, brought to life through care, creativity, and place.
“Proud moment. Proud team. Proudly New Zealand.”
