IHG is set to introduce its fastest growing premium brand, Voco, to the Northern Territory for the first time under a partnership with JH Group.

The 87-key Voco Darwin Suites, which is set to open late this year, will see the conversion of a commercial office building at 87 Mitchell Street in the heart of Darwin’s Central Business District.

The upscale property, located close to Darwin Entertainment Centre, will feature an all-day dining restaurant, meeting space, fitness centre and outdoor pool, with all guest rooms featuring self-contained kitchenettes.

IHG Hotels and Resorts Director of Development, Australasia and Pacific, Cameron Burke, described the signing as a “landmark agreement” that marks a significant milestone in the company’s regional growth strategy.

“We’re thrilled to welcome John Halikos and the JH Group to our IHG community, as together we bring the Voco hotels brand to Darwin,” he said.

“The rapid expansion of our Voco brand through Voco Darwin Suites and many other outstanding properties continues to be driven by its adaptable upscale proposition, appealing to owners seeking both asset versatility and flexibility in market.

“By leveraging IHG’s extensive distribution channels, including our IHG One Rewards loyalty programme, we are wholly focused on optimising performance for the benefit of our owners.

“This powerful combination made Voco an ideal choice for JH Group and we’re looking forward to supporting its ambition to create a distinctive lean-lifestyle presence in the Darwin market.”

JH Group’s John Halikos said the new Voco will benefit short- and long-stay visitors and locals alike.

“It is fantastic to be in partnership with IHG and we are excited to bring the premium Voco brand to the Northern Territory,” he said.

“Voco is a perfect fit for international and domestic guests, at a time of significant need for new hotels in Darwin, specifically Mitchell Street CBD.

“The Halikos family strongly believe in building, investing in and supporting the local community and we see this development as central to that strategy.”

There are currently five Voco hotels in operation in Australasia, with the highly anticipated Voco Gosford on the New South Wales Central Coast also set to open in late 2025.

The broader IHG portfolio now includes 69 hotels in Australasia, with another 26 properties in its development pipeline.
