Cooinda Lodge, located in the Northern Territory’s Kakadu National Park, has upgraded its popular Outback Retreat glamping tents ahead of a busy tourist season.

Ensuites have been added to 10 of the Outback Retreat Plus glamping tents, with a further 10 to have ensuites added at a later date.

The Outback Retreats, which can accommodate four guests, were introduced in 2019, giving guests a taste of the ‘bush’ with modern comforts, including air-conditioning and high-quality bedding.

Interiors have been designed to reflect the landscape and incorporate many Australian-designed and hand-built elements, including locally produced Indigenous weaving and artwork.

The latest upgrades are a response to guest feedback, with families, in particular, highlighting the importance of ensuite facilities.

“We have a fantastic amenities block that is exclusive for Outback Retreat guests, but an ensuite is important for some guests, so we prioritised the family/group glamping tents for the ensuite upgrades,” said General Manager of Cooinda Lodge, Jason Cleverley.

“We will schedule the addition of ensuites for the remaining Outback Retreat doubles for a future season.”

The upgrade was completed in time for the reopening of three of Kakadu’s most famous attractions – Gunlom Falls, which starred in Crocodile Dundee, Jim Jim Falls and Maguk Falls – which offer rock pools that are popular with visitors.
