Dorsett Gold Coast bolsters sales and marketing team with two new hires

Dorsett Gold Coast has welcomed several new members to its sales and marketing team.

Sam Hartley joins as Director of Groups, bringing over 15 years of extensive experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, including at Kakadu Tourism and most recently at Brisbane Economic Development Agency.

An accomplished Director of Sales and Marketing and Destination Manager, Hartley brings expertise in driving revenue growth and enhancing market share.

Melissa Trost has been appointed Groups Sales Manager. She has spent the last decade working in the tourism and events sector, most recently at Experience Gold Coast, where she played a pivotal role in fostering key industry relationships and driving destination engagement.

Ash Britnell continues in his role as Director of Commercial – Australia, overseeing the strategic direction of Dorsett’s Australian properties, with Lily Ennegues as Sales and Marketing Coordinator, and Marketing Executive, Charlotte Coman.

The Rees Hotel Queenstown names new General Manager

The Rees Hotel Queenstown has appointed Micka McDonald as General Manager, effective on 1 April 2025.

With over 20 years’ hospitality industry experience under her belt, this appointment follows 10 years in various roles at the property, including over six years as Front Office Manager, before being promoted to Executive Assistant Manager (EAM) in 2022.

Mark Rose, General Manager and CEO since the property’s opening in 2009, will continue in his Director’s role, overseeing sales, marketing, yield and expansion, working closely with McDonald. He will retain his shareholding in the management company.

 “Our people are our greatest asset,” said Chair Bruce Davidson.

“Micka is a strong team leader with a wealth of experience, longevity with our company and is invested in the strong corporate culture and knowledge we have developed. 

“Mark will continue his excellent guidance and oversight in his new role.  I look to them to lead our team and The Rees Hotel into the next phase of its success with confidence and pride.”

Rose expressed his delight at Micka’s appointment.

“She absolutely gets our culture, values our people and will make an excellent general manager,” he said.
