Veriu Group and Riverlee have partnered to bring 100-key Punthill property to New Epping in Melbourne’s north.
Slated to open in mid-2026, Punthill Epping is located in the heart of Riverlee’s $2 billion New Epping precinct, which aims to serve as a key medical and commercial hub of the north west, near the newly built Northern Private Hospital, and adjacent to the Northern Hospital Epping, Pacific Epping Shopping Centre and the relocated Melbourne Markets.
Veriu Group Director of Operations, Kyle Kaya, was joined by developer Riverlee’s David Lee and key executives for a ground-breaking ceremony at the site on Wednesday.
“Strategically we’ve always sought to grow the Punthill portfolio by opening in locations supported by major sources of corporate room night demand,” said Veriu Group CEO, Zed Sanjana.
“While Melbourne’s North has historically been undersupplied in terms of quality extended stay accommodation, Council’s 20-year vision including Riverlee’s $2 billion New Epping project, with all its new homes, health and commercial businesses, and community spaces, is expected to transform Epping from a suburb into a major regional centre, which is clearly going to drive a significant increase in the number of residents, businesses, and shoppers into the area.
“All that activity translates to a growing need for places to stay, with Punthill Epping ideally positioned to meet the increasing demand for premium short and medium-stay self-contained accommodation in a growing market, in one of the area’s most central locations.”
Riverlee’s Development Director David Lee said the partnership marks a significant milestone in the development of New Epping, Riverlee’s 51-hectare regeneration project.
“Our collaboration with Veriu Group is an exciting step forward in the evolution of the New Epping precinct and its expanding healthcare and commercial infrastructure,” said Lee.
“Introducing trusted accommodation and a vibrant dining experience for visitors, all just a short walk from key amenities, will support more visitors and professionals to evolve the precinct and foster economic prosperity across the region.
“The broader northern Melbourne region already boasts plenty of natural attractions, plus some of Victoria’s best regional restaurants and wineries, and we expect that Epping’s significant growth and development, including an enhanced retail and dining scene as part of the New Epping project, will attract leisure travellers seeking new experiences and convenient accommodation options.”
The apartment hotel will offer a mix of fully self-contained modern studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, each with a fully equipped kitchen, in-room laundry facilities, desks and fast, high-quality internet.
The property will also feature conference and meeting facilities, restaurant with alfresco dining, secure on-site parking, a gym and a guest pantry.
