Switzerland’s allure for camping holidays remains strong, evidenced by breathtaking vistas and top-notch sites. Yet, as Pincamp, a top camping portal, revealed in a price analysis, 2025 sees campers facing steeper costs. The upside? Despite a 4% price bump, demand’s still humming, boasting a record 4.8 million overnight stays in 2024 – a testament to Swiss camping’s lasting charm. That said, travelers are finding that dynamic pricing and regional price spreads are now a key part of the experience.

Rising Camping Holiday Costs Across Switzerland

For a family camping night in peak season, expect to shell out CHF 57 on average in 2025. This is up 4% on last year, and compares to a CHF 49 average across Europe. The Ticino region still stings the wallet most, at CHF 73 a night, while Jura-Neuchâtel-Fribourg-Vaud clocks in as best value at CHF 46, even after prices rose 10%. Interestingly, Bern bucks the trend, easing prices slightly from CHF 55 to CHF 53, making it, perhaps, a bit easier on the pocket.

Switzerland is, broadly speaking, amongst Europe’s pricier camping spots. Only Croatia (CHF 63) and Italy (CHF 61) top it. Germany (CHF 37) and Sweden (CHF 40), on the other hand, offer much more attractive options for folks on a budget.

Dynamic Pricing Takes Hold

A key takeaway for 2025 is dynamic pricing’s expansion. Campsites are tweaking prices based on demand, much like hotels and airlines do. Smart or flexible campers, maybe those traveling off-peak, could shave off up to a third of their costs, which does incentivize early bookings. Pincamp observes that landing a spot at popular campsites in prime areas requires booking in advance, since the demand keeps trending upward, even though, interestingly, average camping holidays are getting shorter.

Record Demand, Evolving Trends

In 2024, Switzerland’s camping scene recorded 4.8 million overnight stays, showing just how loved it remains. The slight dip in how long people stay hints at more frequent, shorter trips. Switzerland remains a magnet for camping holidays due to its alpine scenery, clear lakes, and well-maintained sites; however, to make the most of it, rising prices and dynamic pricing mean planning ahead is crucial.
