Leaders from more than 100 hotels across Victoria came together last week for the Accommodation Australia Victoria (AA VIC) Strategy and Policy Forum.
Migration, global uncertainty and workforce challenges were among the key issues tabled.
On the topic of migration, Accommodation Australia National Policy Director, Jenny Lambert, detailed the impacts of significant increases in temporary visa applications, changes to skilled occupations lists and related Federal Government priorities.
Ferntree Migration Director and Principal, Catherine Burnett, outlined strategies to address visa holder workforce needs.
“Given the complexity of issues discussed, this session was important to provide members requisite confidence AA has appropriate strategies in place to protect and promote their interests,” said Accommodation Australia Victoria General Manager, Dougal Hollis.
Accommodation Australia National CEO James Goodwin spoke about the current fragility of national and global economies and the flow-on effect on travel behaviour and discretionary spend.
He also highlighted the importance of ensuring Australia’s visitor economy demand drivers are strong.
